Weekend Writing Warriors 8 – 6/28/2020 – The Five Barred Gate

Welcome back, Weekend Writing Warriors!! I hope you have enjoyed the last few snippets of The Five Barred Gate. I have tried to give you a glimpse into different characters and the overall theme of the novel. This week we move into another chapter. Our group is getting ready for their big meeting, the one that will change everything.

The Five Barred Gate Synopsis:
Have you ever wondered what would happen if the Non-Offensive Movement in the United States became federal law? What would happen to the freedoms guaranteed to us through the Constitution? This is the story of Jacob Andrews. He is faced with the decision to follow his heart and disregard what the law says about how he should live; even if it means his life.

SNIPPET:
Jacob ran into Mills [Motors]. Jessica was sitting at the front counter. “I saw that,” she said. “I’m glad the two of you are working things out. Roger and I are praying for you guys.”

“Thanks. We appreciate it,” Jacob said. “Is the flyer ready?”

“Here ya go.” She handed him the paper. It was simple and to the point. Across the top it read ‘Our Savior’s Cross Reunification Service.’ Below that was the date and time. Across the middle of the page was a long fence and in the middle was a gate, a five barred gate.

***Well Mighty Warriors that is this week’s snippet. Here is a bit more to complete the scene.***

“Seems appropriate,” Jacob said.

“Thought you’d like that,” Jessica smiled.

“I’ll drop some copies off for you on my way back. I’m taking some over to Frank to put up at Dunham’s. Maybe even leave a few at the ISD for the ladies there.”

Jacob hurried to the car and hopped behind the wheel. “Miss me?”

Renae laughs, “Let’s go, Romeo.”

The ground work is being laid and connections are being made. How long can they keep it up though? Does this mean the worst is behind them? Tune in next week to find out.

Cant wait until next week to find out more? The Five Barred Gate is available for purchase on Amazon. Hardback, Paperback, and Kindle versions are available. The link is also at the bottom of this post.

Below that link is my Children’s book series Elissa the Curious Snail. (Also available on Amazon) It is a series of books about an adorable snail that teaches children about prayer and believing in themselves. Series at 4 books.

You can also read about updates regarding my next novel due out in August of 2020, Little Reminders of Who I Am as well as my current Untitled work.

Fellow Warriors, I also have begun writing a weekly (okay, sometimes bi-weekly) blog that you see posted in between these snippets. Check them out and I would love to hear your thoughts.

AND if you have little warriors running around I now have many of my Children’s Short Stories on this website. They were originally on my Elissa the Curious Snail publisher’s website, but I now control that domain and am in the process of moving that content here. I am adding new stories regularly, until the transfer is complete. These are great bedtime or anytime short stories. Check them out.

In His Exciting Service,

Jeff S. Bray
