Moments for the Heart

Welcome back Weekend Writing Warriors!! Here we are with another snippet from my yet to be titled work in progress. I wish I had a title for this project, but nothing has felt right yet. I’m sure some of you know how it is. We draw a blank. So we keep writing and somewhere along the line it clicks, the perfect title hits us like a bolt of lightning. The epiphany we had been waiting for. Until then I will keep giving you these little snippets and praying for rain.

We left off last week with Masters and Atwood ribbing each other:

“It’s already on your cell. I took the liberty of programming it in for you the last time you were in. I figured you were gonna need it.”

“Alright, I’ll call him,” he said and hung up.

SYNOPSIS:
Lieutenant Daniel Masters is a 27-year veteran Savannah Georgia Major Crimes Detective. He has seen many crime scenes like the one he saw last February. Little did he know this one would change his life. Grady, the newest addition to his team, is the first to see the abnormalities, but will the rest of the team listen in time. There is a serial murder on the loose in South Georgia, and for some reason the killer leaves their final victim alive right before committing suicide. But why? Masters and Grady must find out before its too late and the next killer strikes again.

SNIPPET:
Once again, the big sister intruding on the little brother’s privacy and touching his belongings. Daniel scrolled through his phone. Sure enough Grady’s number was there. He dialed the number and three rings later he got his voice mail. “Not a good start, Grady.” Masters mumbled. He closed his phone and put it in his pocket.

The coroner had picked up the tattooed deceased body and loaded onto a gurney and out into the van for transport. Soon he would have his ID and hopefully some answers.

***Well Mighty Warriors that is this week’s snippet. It looks a little short because the scene ends, so here is a bit more, continuing into the following scene.***

“Lizzy,” James Grady called out from the bathroom where he was shaving, “where’s my phone? I can hear it buzzing.”

“Probably where you put it last,” she snapped from her home office. He pictured her rolling her blue eyes with her head under a stack of paperwork, unnerved at the disturbance. He knew she was about to close for a client, and when she was at the end, she had tunnel vision.

Elizabeth was a real estate agent, and a good one. Her office was expanding and setting up shop in an unexplored area of Georgia and she had earned the merit of heading the team to open the new offices. This meant that he would follow her aspirations and give up his badge in Atlanta and relocate to Savannah. Which he did. Now he was partnered with a brute veteran who did not like slackers and had been rumored to make more than one rookie cry. And now he just may have ignored one of his phone calls.

Well we finally get to meet Grady and the reason he is now in Savannah. It seems that Masters has a reputation as well. We’ll see how these two men mesh up in the coming snippets. Thanks for joining this week. I look forward to giving you more next week.
