I find it interesting that some keep calling Christians blind sheep being falsely led astray. It is almost humorous. We all are sheep. It is just a matter of which Shepherd we will follow: Christ or self. There are indeed two paths in life, and I am not talking about the two that diverge in a yellow wood. The path in life, the one I refer to: One leads us to eternal life, and the other takes us down the road to eternal destruction.
Jeff, You Are Deluded
You may believe that I am amongst the deluded ones who follow an imaginary or made-up being. And you are entitled to your opinion. However, I know whom I believe in, and I know that He is real, and I would stake my life on it. Heh, and I am. I am day by day standing on His Word and His promises. He gave His life for me. And he gave His life for you. His life for me? For what, you may ask? For freedom from the nastiness of sin and what it brings upon this world.
An Ugly World
The issue is it is a community effort, meaning the freedom, on the world stage, is only as good as long as each person does their part. This is why it is not as effective as it should be. This is why we need to continue to pray. Back to the personal level. This is why we are compared to sheep. It is easy to be led astray. We need a shepherd to guide us and to keep us on the path. We need Jesus to guide us. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we are on the right path.
Pit-Fallen
So, those who don’t follow Christ are the ones who are the blind sheep because they are not following the Shepherd. They will fall into the pits. Think about it: They are the ones who find life’s struggles, who are lost, not knowing where the next step is. Why? Because they have fallen into the pit. This is when they need to call out to Jesus. He is the one who can pull them out of the trouble they have fallen into and place them on the right path.
The Wide and Narrow
The Bible talks about the wide and narrow paths. Wide is the road that leads to destruction; many are on it, but narrow is the path that leads to eternal life; few will find it. God is calling you to this path. You just need to follow it. I am not saying that life will be smooth and easy-peasy. I still struggle myself, but I know where I can go when those bumps in the road come up.
I know I am on the right path because I learn from what I am facing, and it gets easier each time I face life’s challenges. Best of all, I have others around me to support me when I face struggles.
Sum of it All
God is good. He will never let you face challenges that are too difficult for you to handle. His Word promises this. When you allow Him to guide your life, you are never left behind. Even if you were to stray, He searches for you and celebrates when you are found again.
