I don’t normally get political in my posts, blogs, or discussions. I keep that private and I do my best not to get involved in pointless debates that never go anywhere. But after last week’s events, it got me thinking how messed up our world is. I was saddened to see the negative posts flooding my feed.
Love him or hate him, there is no reason to wish ill will on a person.
I am in deep prayer for our country. It is lost. Hatred is rampant and it seems there is no common ground anymore. It’s either Red or Blue, Right or Left, R or D. Both sides are more concerned about where to point or which direction to throw the mud than to sit down, talk things out, find common ground, and instill the best solution for our country—for our world.
I remember a song by a 90s Christian artist named Carman. It is called America Again. It was an anthem about how our country was founded on Christian principles but slowly let them slip away, now we have a world of calamity that is only getting worse. It still applies 30 years later.
We continue to ask, “Where is God?” or “If there is a God then why do bad things happen?” Well, the answer is, our country told God we don’t want Him around. So, He is being the gentleman He is and leaving us alone. God won’t go anywhere is not welcome. We have to invite Him. So, if we want change in this world, we need God in America Again.
Think of it this way. If you told the police you don’t want them anywhere near your house, but then someone breaks in, or worse hurts a family member, would you have any right to blame the officials you just told to stay away for their lack of protection?
The answer is not more laws. The answer is not who will win in November. The answer is not a right or left issue. The answer is Christ. We alone cannot do anything here to fix our broken world. Only God can heal our land. God’s love is there, it never left. But it requires action. We must do our part. I remember hearing another truth in the 90s growing up. “If you feel God is distant, guess who moved?”
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” — II Chronicles 7:14
