We go through so many seasons in our life. Times of plenty and times of drought. Times when we feel the presence of God and days when we feel the ceiling is brass. Even as seasoned Christians we can have that feeling that God has left us on our own. I know I have been there. Finances, health, family, all areas can be impacted by these droughts of God’s presence in our lives.
So, how do we get through these moments of not feeling the presence of God… to give you some peace here, he has most definitely NOT left you. He is there, he has promised us that he will never leave us.
We must do our part though. We must remain near him. Keep in His word. The book of Psalms teaches us over and over again the importance of reading and meditating on His word. The closer we are to God, the easier it is to keep his commands and keep ourselves from sin. The more we read His word, the more difficult it becomes for the enemy to get his hooks into us and give us opportunities to stray and sin.
It is a constant, daily struggle. I know I battle. But I do know that when I stay in His Word and hide it in my heart, this means to take it in, study it, memorize it, and do what it says, I can easily pull it out when I am challenged by life to sin. Another reminder is that God never allows us to be tempted beyond what we can bear and that he is faithful; he provides a way out of any sinful situation we may face. We just need to take it. Praise His name.
“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” – Psalm 119:11
