There are many times when we face adversity when we cry out and nothing happens. Silence. We are in the same position we were in before the shout out. Were we heard? Did God listen? Did anyone listen?? Sometimes the silence can be deafening.
It is enough to cause even the strongest of Christians to doubt. And the weakest to point and say, “See, I told you…” But God is always there. Whether we see Him or not, whether we are given our answer or not; He is there. Remember some of the strongest were kept in the dark for years. Some lost everything before they saw the light. Job, Paul, Abraham. Even Jesus himself was kept in silence when he prayed. In Luke’s account, we learn that His prayers brought sweat and blood.
Jesus trusted in His Father. So can we. “Not my will, but yours be done.” We can have the same trust when we are blinded by our situation. Remember, Jesus was fully human. If there was any time for him to doubt, this was it. If there was any time for him to run, this was definitely it. But He trusted in his Father. He trusted in His mission. He believed; mostly He loved. He loved us.
We may doubt, but He will always save us because He hears us. He isn’t far off or deaf. He is there and is never late. When we must wait, it is because we must learn something from our experience. So, when it’s quiet, open your eyes and see what He is trying to teach you. When we learn, then we can move on and become strong, and become unshakable.
“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.” – Isaiah 59:1
