Hey, Weekend Writing Warriors. Well, my first post this side of 50. Didn’t do much. Went to dinner with Carolyn and mother-in-law. Will do something with the kids on Sunday and a date night on Tuesday after my Oncologist appointment. Well date lunch. I must go to Chili’s for my free Molten Cake. I love the free birthday cake.
I also completed The Transference II. Now to complete the Synopsis. I have it written, just need to wrap up the email to send to the publisher. As far as I know we still have an October release date.
The Five Barred Gate part One and Two are available on Amazon! Pick up your copies today!!
SYNOPSIS:
Michael Andrews thought he was far removed from the events his father experienced twenty years ago. He heard the bedtime stories so often, he had driven them out and was barely speaking to his dad. Religion was the last thing he wanted, until it became the only thing that mattered.
A new threat arises; his wife is arrested for talking about God to the wrong person. Now Jacob Andrews may be his only hope. He must lean on him, Rachel’s attorney, and those who understand what occurred twenty years ago and may be happening now when an old adversary returns to wreak havoc, using federal laws to exact revenge on the Andrews family.
Will he succeed, or will justice prevail to set Rachel free?
SNIPPET:
Summary:
This Five Barred Gate sequel, is a Dystopian Suspense about what would it be like if freedom of expression liberties were taken from us. In this installment laws have become more strict. One could be arrested for simply speaking their mind if another chose to press charges. This only multiplied within the Christian community. The laws were strict for Jacob in the first novel, now twenty four years later, his son Michael must face his own battles.
We pick up where we left off last week with Rachel and her mysterious visitor. Here is a bit from last week.
“Where is the fairness in that, Official Edwards?”
“Fairness?” the Official’s laugh echoed in the small cell. “Who said anything about being fair? Oh, I assure you this is all perfectly legal. Well, skating on the edges, maybe, but I am well within the parameters of the law. But my dear, this has nothing to do with being fair. Jacob Andrews took family from me. Now it’s my turn to take family from him. Only I have a heart. He will get to see you from behind bars and not visit a grave marker as I have had to do the past twenty years.”
We pick up right where we left off. We close the door on Chapter Eight and move into Chapter Nine.
“Closed door?” Michael said, reading what was handed to him. “What does that even mean?”
“It means, Mr. Andrews, that from today, moving forward, your proceedings will be held behinds closed doors,” the man with to firm of a pressed shirt and blue tie explained.
“But I’m her husband. I should be allowed within the courtroom.”
“You’ll have to take it up with the judge on Monday morning. All I am is a service clerk.”
Michael read the document again as the man turned and walked back to his vehicle, on his way to ruin someone else’s day.
::There is your ten, but let’s continue on for a moment.
“What is it, Mikey,” Lindsay asked, coming to the door behind him. Lindsay was Michael’s kid sister. Kid meaning four years younger. She peered over his shoulder. “Uh oh. Court order?”
“Yeah. You can say that,” Michael said, then looked up at the car driving away. He nodded to it, and Lindsay’s head followed his gesture. “Rachel’s hearing is closed door. I can’t go anywhere near it.”
“Can they do that?”
“Apparently.”
“But you’re her husband.”
“That’s what I said.”
“Or yelled,” Lindsay said. “That is what brought me down here. I thought you were gonna take the man’s head off.”
Michael chuckled. “No, I’m fine. Well, I’m not fine, but I wasn’t going to hurt him.”
“He sure scampered away, though.”
“Didn’t notice,” Michael read the notice a third time. “Why would they keep me out of the hearing.” As he asked, his pocket buzzed, making him jump and Lindsay echoed his yelp.
“Sorry. Phone call.” It was Johnathan Clarke. “Rachel’s attorney. He must’ve been served too. Perhaps he has more answers.”
Michael answered the call as Lindsay excused herself, waving toward the kids in the house. He nodded with a thumbs up, “Hey, Johnathan. What’s going on here? I was just served.”
“Yeah, same here. We need to meet. I’m near your house now. Can I stop by?”
Michael looked down at his plaid PJ pants and bear slippers. With a half-hearted smile, he answered, “Sure. Come on by. How far are you?”
Right on cue, Michael looked up to see a silver sedan pull up in his driveway, “How about ten seconds?”
Michael chuckled, “Do you like toaster waffles?” he asked.
“I already ate. But thank you,” Johnathan laughed. He parked and met Michael on the stoop, and the two shook hands.
“You didn’t have to dress up on my account?” Johnathan said, taking in Michael’s appearance.
“Only the best for the one who’s going to get my wife out of this jam? Or I guess it is molasses by now?” Michael said, holding up the paperwork. “What the heck is going on, Johnathan?”.
“Let’s go inside,” Johnathan motioned to his feet, then the house. “Before you attract hunters.”
The cards begin to be dealt, and not good for our friends. We shall see how they handle this new situation.
