This past week we have had Revival Services at church. There have been many messages that have spoken to my heart and made me think about where I am in Christ. I know I need to make changes and am making those adjustments. One of the points he made me opened my eyes to something.
Oftentimes in the Bible, we read of God, Jesus, or a Messenger appearing in the clouds or sky. It caused the one receiving the word to look up. Well, what happens when you look up? Yep. You take your eyes off of what is around you and you focus on the one who is speaking to you. The point being, you take your eyes off your situation. It no longer matters. What matters is the one who is speaking to you.
It is fully addressed in the hymn. “Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in his wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His wonderful grace.”
No words could be truer. We can get so bogged down by our situation that we forget God. We can be so involved with trying to fix it ourselves that we lose the solution God is providing. Most of the time it’s giving the problem to Him. Then letting go.
Next time you feel life’s burdens weigh on you, look up. Look to God; Look to Jesus. When we seek Him in our situation, then our worries can lessen. They were never meant to bog us down on our own. His promises are perfect. You are not forgotten. Trust in Him today.
“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” – Psalm 55:22
