Hey, Weekend Writing Warriors. Happy Fourth of July weekend. I believe most of you live in the U.S. Did you do anything for the holiday? (Please don’t get political) It was pretty much the norm here: family, food, and fun with a few fireworks. My son works for a firework company so they gave him a pretty good discounted ‘box’ of assorted stuff. We were not disappointed. Glad we live outside of the city otherwise this would’ve drawn attention and probably a fine.

SYNOPSIS:
Masters has retired and Grady now leads the team. All seems well until a series of murders take place resembling the killings four years ago. Grady receives a call from Masters that he has uncovered something at a local warehouse.
A gun runner is using a long-forgotten facility. As the team investigates, they discover more than meets the eye when clues lead them to realize the two events may be related.
It is only a matter of time before an old nemesis resurfaces and extends a challenge none of them expects.
SNIPPET:
Summary:
The Transference II is a sequel to The Transference. It takes place roughly six months after the close of the first novel. The team is settling back into normal cop life when the past resurfaces and they are sent back into the craziness of tracking a killer who should’ve been dead long ago.
Here is a bit from last week:
“What time did your tenant leave today?”
“I cannot answer that question either?”
Grady looked over his shoulder. “Was it about the time the commotion began across the street?”
The manager looked between the two Detectives, up to the window toward the flashing lights, “I believe it may have been.”
Grady and LaCrosse have interviewed the hotel manager, and have gained some information about Sophia and Greer. We now move into the next scene.
“So, how did it feel?” Tanner said, again hiding in the shadows.
“I don’t know. I remember trying to figure a way out of being arrested. Then I became fearful of what would happen to Greer if I kneed the old man and bolted. Then it happened. You entered my head, and it all became so clear—eliminate the threat.”
“That wasn’t me, Thoran,” Tanner said.|
There is your ten, let’s continue on for a bit to finish the scene.
“Oh, but it was. I could hear your voice. Clear as day. You told me to surrender and, when the moment arose, take out the threat. I would know when it would be. Then, when we got to his car, I saw everything clearly. Knee, kick, push, and run. But then I saw the gun. And your voice spoke to me again. It told me to do it—eliminate the threat. He would chase us until we were caught or dead—eliminate the threat. You spoke to me, Tanner. And I obeyed.”
Tanner was silent. She didn’t know how to read that. “Let’s get on with this evening. Time is getting away from us. We can talk about the voices later.”
“Certainly,” Sophia said.
This is one snippet here understanding the previous novel could help you. Tanner is possessing another individual. At this point in the book, it is unknown to the reader (thus in the shadows). In book one, he possessed Thoran. This is one reason he is using her and another for her to feel the residual presence still in her.
