This year was probably the best All-Star Game I have seen in ages. The network did things they hadn’t done before in mic’ing players during innings and making you at home feel like you were part of the game. The players were smiling, laughing, and joking around. This was never truer than with the tiebreaker at the end.
Cheering for the other players on other teams, who normally would be willing to jump out of the dugout and face off at home plate, was an exhilarating experience. If you are a true baseball fan, the child within you was brought back to life. The thrill of the game. Baseball at its finest.
As Christians, we far too often take an attitude of looking down at other religions. Much like other teams do during the regular season. They are our rivals. But think about it. Heaven will be our All-Star game. We will be rejoicing in Heaven together. Why should we allow those petty divides to exist now? Who cares if we worship in different manners?
In most cases, we worship the same God. Jesus is the same perfect sacrifice for our sins. The Spirit still resides in each of us. If that is the focus, then why bicker over which coast or city we worship in? God is our God, and He died for us all.
Accept Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins. Allow the Spirit to dwell in you, directing your daily life. And reflect that to others in how you live every day. Then we will celebrate together when our names are called in the grandest game of all, the call through Heaven’s gates into glory.
“For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
