We have all heard of God’s anger and God’s wrath. It can be confusing, especially to a young Christian. Heh, it could be confusing to a seasoned follower. But in any case, our sin does not make God happy. Let’s see if we can clear that concept up a bit.
We are all God’s children. Now, as God being our Father, think of it from that standpoint. As a parent, if you see your child doing something that is doing wrong or something that is going to harm them, does it concern you? If they continue to do that wrong, doesn’t it, in one way or another, upset you? Why? Perhaps because your child is not learning from their mistakes despite the constant hurts they sustain from the pains they endure from making the same mistakes over and over again.
God wants the best for us just as we want the best for our children. So, we discipline our kids when they continually make those mistakes. The Bible talks about God disciplining those whom he loves. It’s not so much that God is mad at us; He is mad at the sin that we commit. He loves us. He wants us to stop committing the sin we fall into. He wanted it so much that he sent His Son to die for it.
Jesus is the only way we can have complete forgiveness from that sin. He died for every sin that we committed or ever will commit. All we need to do is accept it. It is free. So, accept it today. God is not mad; he loves you. The way you are right now. All you need to do is turn to him today.
“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.” – Proverbs 3:11-12
