One of my favorite Bible history lessons is of Paul’s life story. He had a scholarly background and then learned none of that was of worth, that all his biblical knowledge meant little when it came to Christ. It literally knocked him down and blinded him. Then he came to know the truth… Jesus. And it changed his life.
You see, Paul, at that time, Saul, thought he was doing the right thing. It was a sin to blaspheme. But Saul was shortsighted. Until he was met by Jesus on the road to Damascus. That blinding light, that booming voice, that forgiving nature led him to a new life. A life fully surrendered to Him.
We, too, must live a life of surrender. Paul is the ultimate example. He was put in prison, shipwrecked, and died for the cause of Christ. Most of his last years of life were spent in custody. But he had a purpose he was fully aware of—to bear witness of Jesus Christ.
His life and death were examples for us to live by. His voice was heard in the churches throughout the region. Today, we have them as a testimony, and we are to share that word with others, without reservation. Those with him, such as Silas and Barnabas, did.
Paul stood to give us hope that Jesus is the Savior of the world. Paul was, among others, a witness to God’s saving grace. We have modern-day examples of faith, such as Martin Luther King and Charlie Kirk. Voices that were heard, then silenced in an instant. Those that will stand as a legacy.
Jesus lives today. All we need to do is call on Him. He gives us freedom from sin through forgiveness. That surrender, like Paul’s, will give us our own testimony that we can live and share with others. Begin your journey today.
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face,
and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” – II Chronicles 7:14 NKJV
