Hey, Weekend Writing Warriors. Still no update for Dylan. The pathology is still out. It hurts as I head into my own surgery because I will not be able to stay in contact as I would at home. Then I will have my own pathology wait. But the doctors already tell me there should be no issues on my end, so I am not worried at all. I know God is in control. No matter what the outcome is. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. I continue to write and post. It is what I do.

SYNOPSIS:
Michael Andrews thought he was far removed from the events his father experienced twenty years ago. He heard the bedtime stories so often, he had driven them out and was barely speaking to his dad. Religion was the last thing he wanted, until it became the only thing that mattered.
A new threat arises; his wife is arrested for talking about God to the wrong person. Now Jacob Andrews may be his only hope. He must lean on him, Rachel’s attorney, and those who understand what occurred twenty years ago and may be happening now when an old adversary returns to wreak havoc, using federal laws to exact revenge on the Andrews family.
Will he succeed, or will justice prevail to set Rachel free?
SNIPPET:
Summary:
This Five Barred Gate sequel, is a Dystopian Suspense about what would it be like if freedom of expression liberties were taken from us. In this installment laws have become more strict. One could be arrested for simply speaking their mind if another chose to press charges. This only multiplied within the Christian community. The laws were strict for Jacob in the first novel, now twenty four years later, his son Michael must face his own battles.
Here is a bit from last week. (Maggie is Frank’s wife. Being his second wife, this would be Michael’s step grandmother-in-law)… confused yet?
“You’ll figure it out, sweetie. You should do fine if you have your dad’s brains like you have his looks.” Maggie said.
Michael grinned, “Thanks. Again, I’m not sure if that is a good or bad thing.
“We’ll he raised you, and you turned out better than average,” Maggie elbowed him with a chuckle. “So, I would say that is a good thing.”
We pick up right where we left off last week, with Michael picking up the kids at his grandparent-in-laws house.
Michael hugged her with his goodbyes, loaded the kids, and headed home. By the time he arrived, both kids were already yawning and dozing in their car seats. Michael had half notion of tucking them into bed, clothes and all, leaving off difficult conversations. But as kids are, the once again empty driveway drew the questions he hoped to leave until breakfast.
“Where’s mommy’s car?” Angela asked through a yawn.
“I’m not sure, sweetie,” Michael said, which was the truth. He didn’t know what the city did with her vehicle. But not knowing was not going to end the line of questioning.
::There is your ten, but let’s continue on for a moment.::
“Is she still at work?”
Michael didn’t answer. He didn’t want to lie, and he wasn’t ready to have a conversation in the car. “Let’s go inside and have our baths and get ready for bed. I want to tell you something.”
“Is it about Mommy?” Aiden asked.
Smart kid, Michael thought. He chewed on it for a second before answering, not wanting to scare them. “Yes, but let’s get cleaned up and in bed before I tell you the story, okay?” He hoped the word ‘story’ would snuff the current line of questioning and get him inside the house. Bedtime was story time, and maybe it would buy him some time.
“There is a story about mommy?” Angela asked, trying to unbuckle herself.
Michael finished with Aiden, who hopped out of the truck and helped a frustrated Angela. “Yes, sweetie. I will tell you about it after your bath and when you’re tucked in. Okay?”
“Okay, Daddy,” Angela said, hopping out of the truck like her brother.
“Ha! I jumped farther than you did,” Angela said.
“Did not. I landed in the grass,” Aiden said.
“So did I,” Angela protested, pointing back at where she said she had landed. Michael laughed; it was nowhere near where she did, but he let them have their debate.
“Nuh-huh,” Aiden said, “Dad. Who got further?”
Both children looked at him, standing and pointing to the spots they believed they jumped to. “Well, I believe it was a tie. Both of you are amazing jumpers. Much further than I could have jumped. So, you both win.”
“Yay!!” both cheered and ran to the door.
Michael was grateful they were won over that easily and not given into a debate that one of them had to win. He was reminded of his sister. They bickered quite often, but there was an age difference. Aiden and Angela were identical in age. Could that have been their advantage? It was this evening, and he wasn’t complaining.
Kids love stories. Have you ever dropped some news on kids through a story? How did your situation play out? I will have a story next week with my surgery in the rear view mirror. I’ll be glad to get through it. God bless, my friends. I’ve had your well wishes and I am grateful for them, so fill my feed below with your kid stories below.

They are always in competition, at least my two girls were. That’s died out now they’re grown, but when they were little it was hard to keep them from competing with each other. I don’t envy Michael having to break the news about their Mom. Even resilient kids will have issues where their mom is concerned. Prayers for Dylan and you!
