Hey, Weekend Writing Warriors. Another week and things are getting back to normal. I have been keyboard deep with a client assignment and household chores. I was even able to get into the yard a bit. It feels good to move around again. Thank you for your support and prayers. Still waiting for Dylan’s diagnosis. We should hear something by early April, it’s when his appointment is.

SYNOPSIS
Michael Andrews thought he was far removed from the events his father experienced twenty years ago. He heard the bedtime stories so often, he had driven them out and was barely speaking to his dad. Religion was the last thing he wanted, until it became the only thing that mattered.
A new threat arises; his wife is arrested for talking about God to the wrong person. Now Jacob Andrews may be his only hope. He must lean on him, Rachel’s attorney, and those who understand what occurred twenty years ago and may be happening now when an old adversary returns to wreak havoc, using federal laws to exact revenge on the Andrews family.
Will he succeed, or will justice prevail to set Rachel free?
SNIPPET:
Summary:
This Five Barred Gate sequel, is a Dystopian Suspense about what would it be like if freedom of expression liberties were taken from us. In this installment laws have become more strict. One could be arrested for simply speaking their mind if another chose to press charges. This only multiplied within the Christian community. The laws were strict for Jacob in the first novel, now twenty four years later, his son Michael must face his own battles.
We pick up where we left off last week with Rachel and her mysterious visitor. Here is a bit from last week.
“Sir, I apologize. I have no clue what you are talking about.”
“Your family has been making waves in this town for quite some time,” the man explained, his face turning a light shade of pink. “One would think the lot of you would have learned your lesson the first time.”
“Sir, I don’t understand what you are talking about? The first time? What first time?”
We pick up right where we left off.
The man went silent as his eyes closed. He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, “You should ask your father-in-law, citizen. He will fill you in on all the details. Until then, I hope you enjoy your accommodations,” and with that, he turned to the door. “Guard!”
“What are you talking about? My family? What about my father-in-law?” Rachel asked, relaxing her attention stance as the buzzer sounded and the door slid open.
The man remained silent, facing the guard.
Rachel grabbed the man’s arm, “You need to tell me.”
::There is your ten, but let’s continue on for a moment.
“Unhand me, citizen, if you know what’s good for you,” the man said, not flinching or reaching for Rachel’s hands, but the guard did.
“Rachel Andrews, if you do not release the Official, you will be restrained by force,” the female guard barked.
Rachael didn’t listen, “Please tell me what Jacob Andrews has to do with this, Official?”
“Rachael Andrews—” the guard raised her club, which knocked Rachel to the ground. The Official waved her off and knelt in front of Rachel.
“Go tell your father-in-law that Official Kendrick Edwards is on this case. He must answer for his crimes against Official Nathan Edwards,” Kendrick Edwards grinned again, stood, and brushed the imaginary dust from his arms. “There was no need to become unpleasant, Mrs. Andrews. We can do this as civil as we can.”
“How civil is using me as a pawn in your game?”
Edwards laughed again. “Fair enough. And I was being facetious anyhow. You could tell your attorney, but he couldn’t tell anyone else.”
“How’s that?”
“From the moment I walked into this room, this case will be held within a closed courtroom. Private. No public for any of you to poison with your God-talk. There is now a gag order on anyone who sits in. So, what I’ve just said to you, is confidential. You can tell your attorney that Kendrick Edwards has a watchful eye over your company, but he cannot tell them. He would be breaking a court order, ending up in here with you, and what good would that do you, Citizen?”
“Where is the fairness in that, Official Edwards?”
“Fairness?” the Official’s laugh echoed in the small cell. “Who said anything about being fair? Oh, I assure you this is all perfectly legal. Well, skating on the edges, maybe, but I am well within the parameters of the law. But my dear, this has nothing to do with being fair. Jacob Andrews took family from me. Now it’s my turn to take family from him. Only I have a heart. He will get to see you from behind bars and not visit a grave marker as I have had to do the past twenty years.”
Now we meet the mysterious visitor. You will need to have read the first book to understand the gravity of who Nathan Edwards is, but to put it simply, he was the villain. Kendrick is here to exact revenge on Jacob Andrews who was the MC of the first book. Rachel is his daughter-in-law.
