Hey, Weekend Writing Warriors. What a week. Most of you know I live in south Texas just south of San Antonio, so all the flooding was a bit north of me. It was difficult to see the devastation and loss of life. Especially the kids camp. This week my daughter attended a camp. It was difficult to let her go. Her camp was on was the Frio and it had started to go down by the time camp started on Monday. I can only imagine how those parents feel. While we have lost two children, both were before they were born. To have, hold, raise, then lose them in this fashion… just… man… Please keep these families in prayer. As well as the others who have lost their lives.

SYNOPSIS:
Masters has retired and Grady now leads the team. All seems well until a series of murders take place resembling the killings four years ago. Grady receives a call from Masters that he has uncovered something at a local warehouse.
A gun runner is using a long-forgotten facility. As the team investigates, they discover more than meets the eye when clues lead them to realize the two events may be related.
It is only a matter of time before an old nemesis resurfaces and extends a challenge none of them expects.

Summary:
The Transference II is a sequel to The Transference. It takes place roughly six months after the close of the first novel. The team is settling back into normal cop life when the past resurfaces and they are sent back into the craziness of tracking a killer who should’ve been dead long ago.
Here is a bit from last week:
“Oh, but it was. I could hear your voice. Clear as day. You told me to surrender and, when the moment arose, take out the threat. I would know when it would be. Then, when we got to his car, I saw everything clearly. Knee, kick, push, and run. But then I saw the gun. And your voice spoke to me again. It told me to do it—eliminate the threat. He would chase us until we were caught or dead—eliminate the threat. You spoke to me, Tanner. And I obeyed.”
Tanner was silent. She didn’t know how to read that. “Let’s get on with this evening. Time is getting away from us. We can talk about the voices later.”
“Certainly,” Sophia said.
We are skipping ahead a section. The block just after this reveals a little more than I am would like to show. So, let’s get into it…
Grady and his team had called it a night. There had been nothing they could do. Masters was with the coroner, with an obvious cause of death. The hotel would not let them in the room without a search warrant, and the jurisdiction was causing Carmen issues.
“Sorry, Grady,” Carmen said. “I guess I am losing my touch.”
“There probably isn’t anything there if past locations are any clue,” Grady said.
“I have a call out to one last judge, but I probably won’t know until the morning. He is one of those ‘when I am home, I am home’ types.”
There is your ten, let’s continue on for a bit to finish the scene.
They called it a day shortly after ten, and Grady went home to Elizabeth and let her in on the bad news. She did as a good wife would do; she listened and consoled. Masters was killed in the line of duty while not being in the line of duty. He knew there would be hell to pay when he met with Atwood in the morning.
Then Grady’s phone rang, waking Elizabeth. She nudged him with the annoyed elbow of a wife who couldn’t believe her husband didn’t hear his phone ringing.
“Grady, it’s Carmen.”
“That’s what my ID said,” Grady’s sarcasm evident.
“Sheesh, you’re as bad as—” her voice trailed off.
Grady knew what she meant. To rescue her, he spoke, “What’s going on, Carmen?
“We have another pair.”
“Where do you need me?”
“Sunrise Park. Back toward the Island,” Carmen said. “Off the 90 near Willmington.”
“Got it. I’m on my way. Alert LaCrosse and Nettles.”
“10-4”
“They sure didn’t waste any time,” Carmen said.
“Maybe that’s why they behaved the way they did with Master’s. He got too close to their deadline? He got in the way. I told him—”
“Grady. You can’t blame yourself,” Carmen said. “Get that out of your head. We have a case in front of us. Masters would tell us to get out there and solve it. Now, in his honor, that is what we are going to do. So, get out there and do what he trained us to do.”
“I’m on my way.”
“I’ll send the address to your phone,” Carmen said.
“10-4.” Grady acknowledged. “And Carmen, thanks.”
The missing part is the act occurring and who Tanner is possessing is revealed. But if you can put two and two together over the past couple of weeks, you’ve probably figured it out. One of the other aspects of writing Crime Thriller, writing mystery into it. My wife read it and she loves the genre, and kept on trying to figure things out. The one thing about being a writer, it is complicated to separate yourself from the project and see it from a readers point of view. You ARE behind the curtain constantly.
