Our God is amazing and He answers prayer through signs and wonders.
Last year our landlord decided to sell our home. This began our search for rentals. We always resigned we’d never own a home. One, credit not good enough. And two, in all honesty, when you rent, repairs and upkeep are someone else’s responsibility. A fridge goes down, or the AC goes on the fritz; you make a call.
However, the more we rental searched, the more homebuying became an option. For one, I’ve been on a 5-yr credit restoration mission. Second, social media. You know how they show you what you internet search for? One post kept popping up. It wasn’t a rental; it was a For Sale. I kept joking with Carolyn about it because it was a Gallop Home. “Watch, we end up in that house.”
Months go by, and we pull the trigger. Our realtor suggests homes in our range and one out of it—the Gallop Home. We finally say, “Why not?” So, we begin the process on the Gallop Home, and we are preapproved.
Here is the kicker. When we walked through with Dan and Randi, Carolyn and I are still not sure if God wants us here or the yellow house. We know we love both homes. Then the most peculiar thing happened. The chicken crossed the road.
At the Edwards house, we were inundated with chickens and roosters. Every morning, they would wake us up. The night we met at the new house, while leaving, Dan heard something coming from the back porch. He went to investigate; it was a chicken. He said it was odd because they had never seen chickens there before.
That was icing on the cake. God’s seal of approval that this was going to be our home. From that moment on, we never looked back or doubted a perceived obstacle or delay.
Today we rest in our forever home. Dan took that chicken home to his family of chickens, and we have yet to see another one. I fully believe God placed that one here, giving us a sign of peace in our choice.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” -Matthew 7:7-8
