Hey Weekend Writing Warriors. It is time for NaNoWriMo. So I am back. I debated on whether to participate in WeWriWa given my hectic schedule, but I missed you guys so much that I just had to. I hope to get over and read y’alls because you are taking the time to read mine. I know I have strayed from doing that and for that I apologize. But with posting, perhaps that will give me the spur I need to be more involved. I do see a couple of you over on Twitter and we do interact over there. If you are there, let’s follow each other there. I hope your works have been successful and are plugging away at new projects as we speak. You all are amazing and I can’t wait to get back involved. Love you guys!!
My new project is a follow-up to Little Reminders of Who I Am. It follows Carter in a new assignment. If you have read the first book, you know that he is an angel that helps couples get together. He is on a new case, but this one is rather unique. And Carter is taken for a spin. It will take more than gellato to get him back through this one.
SYNOPSIS:
I am still working on an official Synopsis for this novel. — The book is about Derrick Stephens. He is a college student who works in a bookstore. He is struggling with school, work, and a recent loss in his family. So, he has little time for friends, much less a love life in spite of a coworker, Breonna, who has her eyes set on him.
Carter has been sent to bring them together, just as he was sent to bring Deborah and Aaron together in the first instalment. There will be obstacles on their road to getting together. A couple of missed opportunities and an unexpected bump in the road for the one responsible for their connection. He may even need an old friend to help him get back on track.
SNIPPET:
Little Reminders of Who I Was begins with a Prologue. It is roughly three years after the events of the first book, Little Reminders of Who I Am. As I mentioned, it is somewhat of a sequel. Not so much following a storyline, but the Carter character. He is on a new assignment, with the aforementioned Derrick Stephens. We open the book, as the first book did with Carter receiving his assignment.
Here is your snippet: Yes it is a bit above 8, but I wanted to complete the scene to a decent cliffanger:
“Gabriel, it’s good to see you. What brings you my way this lovely evening,” Carter said, leaning back on his park bench, watching a couple of squirrels fight over a fallen nut.
“I have something that may interest you,” the angel with crystal blue eyes said, sitting beside him. He held another shoebox; the way Carter preferred his cases handled.
“It’s not like the last one, is it?” Carter began. “I enjoyed bringing the Harveys together, and I understand it was His work, but it just felt routine. I haven’t felt challenged in a while.”
“What, you want something like Aaron and Deborah?” Gabriel said with his eyebrows raised.
Carter knew his friend too well. Something was up by his cutting to the chase so quickly, “That was three years ago. Why would you bring them up? What is He up to his time?”
“Why does God have to be up to something to send me to you and ask you about a case?”
“Because I know Him so well. And I know you, Gabe,” Carter said and stood with his hand outstretched, “Let me see the box.”
“It won’t tell you anything,” Gabriel said, handing him the same beat-up shoebox Carter had always used for the past unknown years he had been his overseer.
Carter sat and removed the cover. He tilted his tweed hat back, and his silver eyebrows furrowed as he looked over the various items. He did not place any of them. None of them struck a chord or made any sense to him. He looked up to Gabriel.
“I told you. Just follow the instructions and place them as He leads you to place them. Same as always. Other leadings will follow. You know how this works.”
“What’s the catch,” Carter asked, lowering his hat. “What do Aaron and Deborah have to do with this case?”
“Who said they did?
“You did. Why would you bring them up if they had nothing to do with this case?”
“Okay, you got me,” Gabriel sighed. “When was the last time you visited Houston?”
Okay, so it is evident that we are going back to the city of Little Reminders of Who I Am. So exciting. I don’t know how many of you have read the first book. But you can only imagine how thrilled I am to have this opportunity to visit old characters and get back into writing Carter. He has to be my most favorite character I have ever created.
Right now I am 22K into writing this book, That is about 1/3 into where I plan to take the book. 65K is what the first book ended up being. NaNo is 50K, I will complete that easily. But I still hope to complete the 65 by Nov 30. That would be nice, but if I don’t, I am okay with that.
I hope you guys are doing well with your writings and succeeding at writing. I think about you often, even if I am not in contact. Our group has meant a lot to me and it is part of the inspiration that keeps me writing. Keep on writing yourselves. Never give up. Each of you is awesome!!

Yes. I plan to at least give our warriors the Prologue. I am not sure beyond that at this point. I have been so busy with my writing job that time for anything else is selective. I shall do my best. That and if I just post and not keep up with everyone else’s works, I feel guilty. So it also includes being involved with everyone else. Time is so limited. I just wish I could just write more of it. 😀

AAAKKK. I just realized that I named my MC Derrick Stephens and my MC from the first book was Aaron Stephenson. What in the world?? Well, that just won’t work. At least it’s a WIP. I fixed it and the MC now is renamed. Good Grief, Jeff.

Lovely to see you back with us! As always your prose flows and I enjoyed the fantasy flavor of this excerpt. We do allow more than eight sentences or even ten bowadays LOL.

Thank you for the compliment. It means a lot. I am excited to get back in the flow. Yes, I remember we are allowed to do a bit more, but I also know I went waaaaay over this round. But dialogue I know we are given much more leeway than paragraph form. Plus, I was having so much fun, I had to keep going. :-D. Hope you are doing well. Have a blessed week.

Thanks, Elaine. It was fun to write, and fun to revisit this world. Carter is my favorite character that I’ve birthed. Revisiting him is exciting.

Great beginning, Jeff! And glad to have you back! I know all about loving to write characters from previous works–some of mine pop up whenever I can stick them in! Glad you like that too! Tweeted.

Yes. I saw that, thanks, Jenna. I have made Twitter my new home. I have jumped from 1K followers to 5K followers and it is my new platform. I just cannot with FB anymore. They just don’t do anything for us authors unless you pay them. I am tired of my posts only being seen by 15 of my 250 followers. Now with a little bit of legwork, I can get have that go much further over on Twitter. I am also starting to learn Instagram. But that is just in its infant stages. I’m still on FB, but the more I get myself out there I think the more my books can sell.
