Hey, Weekend Writing Warriors. What a crazy week. I’ve been involved with our churches Vacation Bible School. I always love being involved with working with the kids. As a 3rd through 5th Sunday School teacher, I love it. While I don’t teach a class during this time, I am involved. I am the videographer. I take pictures and videos and make a video to present during Family Fun Night. So that always makes my days interesting: writing by day, doing VBS, then coming home and putting all the footage together by night. But I enjoy it. Are any of you involved in such activities? I would love to hear about it.
We continue in our new section this week. If you want to review last weeks snippet, you can do that here.
Let’s move on!!

SYNOPSIS:
Michael Andrews thought he was far removed from the events his father experienced twenty years ago. He heard the bedtime stories so often, he had driven them out and was barely speaking to his dad. Religion was the last thing he wanted, until it became the only thing that mattered.
A new threat arises; his wife is arrested for talking about God to the wrong person. Now Jacob Andrews may be his only hope. He must lean on him, Rachel’s attorney, and those who understand what occurred twenty years ago and may be happening now when an old adversary returns to wreak havoc, using federal laws to exact revenge on the Andrews family.
Will he succeed, or will justice prevail to set Rachel free?

SNIPPET:
Summary:
This Five Barred Gate sequel, is a Dystopian Suspense about what would it be like if freedom of expression liberties were taken from us. In this installment laws have gotten more strict. One could be arrested for simply speaking their mind if another chose to press charges. This multiplied for the Christian community. The laws were strict for Jacob in the first novel, now twenty years later, his son Michael must face his own battles.
Here is a bit from last week:
“Yes, my dad has mentioned the protection here. But he didn’t mention the security measures. So, I can call Johnathan [his attorney], and Edwards wouldn’t know where I am?”
“Nope,” Roger said. “The signal will bounce between the four towers in the area and make it seem like you are all over the place.” Roger laughed. “They would run in circles like jackrabbits.”
–We are continuing right were we left off. Let’s get back to it.–
Michael laughed and excused himself, dialing Johnathan’s number. After three rings, it went to voicemail again. “Johnathan, you need to call me. We have a problem with—” Michael’s call waiting began to buzz. It was Johnathan.
Michael answered.
“Sorry, Michael, I have been on the phone all day. We have a serious problem. I’ve been meaning to call you, but between phone calls, I wanted to get my story straight before I got you worried for nothing.”
“Okay. I have news for you, too, but I think we may have the same message. I think you are about to tell me Rachel is missing.”
::There is your ten, but let’s continue on and finish the thought.::
The line went silent for a moment, “How do you know that?”
“I went to the prison as you suggested to see Rachel, and they couldn’t find her. Not even a record of her ever being there.”
“That’s the issue with the court and why the trial’s been delayed. After you left, I went by the courthouse to find out when we could expect to resume the hearing. I was getting the runaround. So, I found my way into the judge’s chambers.”
“I bet that went over well.”
“No, not at first,” Johnathan said. “But I was lucky enough that she was alone. She told me when they called to bring her over from the prison that morning, the van returned empty. The driver said the jail couldn’t find her; they had no record of her even being there.”
“That’s not possible. She was there,” Michael said. “Wouldn’t the guards know? Can’t they interview them?”
“That’s what I’ve been on the phone trying to do. They are giving me the runaround and won’t give me access to them. No names, badge numbers, nothing. All I know is she was held in the Non-Violent Offense wing. I don’t know how many guards had access to her.”
“What about the guard who brought her to us? The one who would snicker at us?”
“He was a courthouse guard. He took over from the transport wing in the basement. Nothing to do with the prison. He probably never even saw the prison guard. We could talk to the clerk who did the paperwork, but that’s it. I’m on my way to the courthouse to do that now.”
“What can I do?”
“Nothing right now,” Johnathan said. “Remember, you aren’t supposed to know any of this. We are still under the judge’s gag order. All she told me is still under that order.”
“Watch your back. Officials are tailing me,” Michael warned. “They followed me from the jail.”
“Speaking of, where are you? I didn’t pick up earlier because the phone did not ID the call as you.”
“I’m—” Michael stopped himself. Just because the line was safe didn’t mean they were not being listened to. “I’m in a safe place. Don’t worry about me. Do what you need to. You said I can’t do anything right now anyhow. I will just stay out of play. And since you are under a gag order, it would be best if we only spoke in person from here on. The phone is no longer safe.”
“Agreed,” Johnathan said. “I will talk to you when I talk to you. We can meet at your house in the morning.”
“Okay.”
“And Michael.”
“Yeah?”
“I’m sorry about Rachel. We will find her. The judge says we will find her. She is just as upset as we are.”
“I understand. Thank you.” Michael said and hit the end call button.
This confirms Rachel is definitely missing. Even the courts are baffled. Now the frantic task of trying to find out where she is. And staying away from those who could very well be behind it all.

That has got to be the scariest thing to happen–have your wife go missing from the prison that was holding her. That they have no record of her being there is even more troubling. Your story has taken quite a turn, Jeff! Tweeted.

It has only just begun.

Awful situation, but it’s good that the judge is upset about it too. Maybe she can find something out when the husband of the missing prisoner and the attorney can’t.

We shall see. And yes. It is good that she is on Johnathan’s side.
