These past several months have been laden with trials. From family health issues and having to care for aging parents to my current health situation. What many of you may not know is that we also have been facing financial stress through a temporary setback with Carolyn’s job. She had to resign her position. It’s a long story, but hopefully, that will be resolved by the end of the month.
Sometimes it may seem that life throws wave after wave at you, sometimes grenade after grenade, knocking you off of your feet. This is when you must rely on your roots. What has you grounded? For us, we have our faith that God will get us through this temporary period. And that is what it is, temporary. We will recover, and whatever you may be facing, it won’t last forever. How deep your roots are in Christ is what matters to get you through it.
Trust is foremost. We understand that we are in this position for a reason. Just as whatever you may be facing today, you are there for a reason. Open your eyes and learn from it; don’t be upset or place blame, which gets you nowhere. God puts us in situations to draw us closer to Him. We just need to see it, accept it, and listen to what He is trying to teach us.
I came across this verse scrolling through IG. Jeremey Camp was talking about the struggles he had faced over this past year. It rings true in my life right now. It can help all of us who face challenges and need the reminder that God has not abandoned us, He is drawing us closer to Himself. I know He has not left me. I have faced challenges before, and I will continue in His Name. I will rejoice. He got this!!
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. – James 1:2-4

Hi Jeff,
Maybe the problem and resignation with Carolyn’s job means God’s opening a door for a new career, a better career.
I,too, have health issues, and while I know it’s no surprise to God, sometimes I wish I knew why I have them. But, it’s okay, I know God’s in control andI don’t have to worry about it.
Count it a blessing to take care of aging parents, even when it’s hard. I just lost my Dad on December 3rd, 2024, after being on hospice for 1 week.

Sorry for your loss, Misty. But yes, we are open to new adventures. It is the unknown that is unnerving. But we know God is in control. It is the letting go of the wheel and trusting that is the hard part. Especially when so much happens in such a short period of time. Thank you for your words of encouragement, they are helpful.
