Hey, Weekend Writing Warriors. This has been a busy week. Our church had Revival Services. It was the reason I hadn’t gotten to any of your snippets from last week, or got to them late. In other news, I saw my Oncologist. He said that at this point with the two surgeries having to appeared to get all the Cancer, and the Cancer being slow growing, we need to do a PET scan to see if anything remains behind. He also said that Chemo would be pointless since the Cancer is extremely slow growing. We should know more after the PET scan. Don’t have that scheduled yet. Thank you for your prayers ands support thus far. I covet them on this continued journey.

SYNOPSIS:
Michael Andrews thought he was far removed from the events his father experienced twenty years ago. He heard the bedtime stories so often, he had driven them out and was barely speaking to his dad. Religion was the last thing he wanted, until it became the only thing that mattered.
A new threat arises; his wife is arrested for talking about God to the wrong person. Now Jacob Andrews may be his only hope. He must lean on him, Rachel’s attorney, and those who understand what occurred twenty years ago and may be happening now when an old adversary returns to wreak havoc, using federal laws to exact revenge on the Andrews family.
Will he succeed, or will justice prevail to set Rachel free?
SNIPPET:
Summary:
This Five Barred Gate sequel, is a Dystopian Suspense about what would it be like if freedom of expression liberties were taken from us. In this installment laws have become more strict. One could be arrested for simply speaking their mind if another chose to press charges. This only multiplied within the Christian community. The laws were strict for Jacob in the first novel, now twenty four years later, his son Michael must face his own battles.
(Sorry the linky said book III, but we are continuing were we left off in Book II)
We pick up where we left off last week Jonathan and Michael are at his home. They are going over the court document they received. Here is a bit from last week.
“You didn’t have to dress up on my account?” Johnathan said, taking in Michael’s appearance.
“Only the best for the one who’s going to get my wife out of this jam? Or I guess it is molasses by now?” Michael said, holding up the paperwork. “What the heck is going on, Johnathan?”.
“Let’s go inside,” Johnathan motioned to his feet, then the house. “Before you attract hunters.”
We pick up right where we left off.
Lindsay was cleaning up in the kitchen, and laughter could be heard upstairs from full tummies. Michael led Jonathan to a freshly cleaned kitchen table. Two cups of coffee sat at two of the chairs. Johnathan raised his eyebrows.
“Johnathan, this is my sister, Lindsay.”
“We’ve met,” Johnathan said, shaking her hand. “How are you, Lindsay?”
“Fine,” Lindsay said flatly, exiting the room.
Michael looked over his shoulder and then at Johnathan. “Dare I ask?”
“Best you not,” he said.
Michael raised his hands, “Fine by me. Your business.”
“Let’s just say attorney/client privilege. Anyhow, we need to focus on Rachael and this court business.”
::There is your ten, but let’s continue on for a moment.
“Right,” Michael said, shaking his head. “So, what in the hell is going on here, Johnathan?”
“I was served this morning just as I arrived at my office. So, I jumped in my car and headed here. I was hoping to head off the server. Guess they had a separate one for you.”
“What does this mean? Closed door? Can they do that?”
“It appears so,” Johnathan said, pulling out his briefcase and the copy of his order.
“Is there anything we can do? Can we fight it?”
“I plan to. That’s why I came here. We need to talk about how to proceed about this, what exactly we want, and how hard we want to push. Remember, if this is like your dad says and there is more going on here, then pushing back will only make things worse.”
Michael rubbed his face with his hands into his hair. “I don’t know. I just don’t know. I do know I don’t want to make things worse in there for Rachel. But where’s that line?”
“At this point, raising our hand could be too far,” Johnathan admitted. “If these people are as bad as I’ve heard.”
“But that was decades ago. You’d think they would’ve matured by now?”
“I think they would’ve wised up enough to make it look like she initiated the incident.”
“You’re really filling me with confidence here, Johnathan.”
“Just trying to be real,” Johnathan said, pulling out a pen. “What do you want me to do?”
“Do what you need to do. You’re the expert. I just want to help Rachel without getting her in deeper or hurting the kids in the process.”
Johnathan began to scribble on a notepad. “Would it be okay to talk more with your grandparents?”
“Frank?”
“Yes. He may have better insight about what we may be dealing with.”
“Sure,” Michael saw Johnathan’s hands pause after he wrote the names and numbers, he gave to him. He knew what was next. “You want my dad’s info, too, don’t you?”
“He has more details than any of us. Especially if this is about the past.”
Michael knew he was right, and if he saw vehicles and people in the shadows, they needed to get ahead of whatever was happening.
Trying to figure things out. Yes, at this point for Michael it meant opening up old wounds. As a reminder, Michael and his dad aren’t on the best of speaking terms. And the past was the very reason their relationship was rocky. We shall see how this shall go.

So glad to hear your doctor is cautiously optimistic! Continued prayers for your good health.
They seem to be between a rock and a hard place, not knowing what to do, but knowing they have to do something. Going to the past sounds like a good idea to me!

So much happening in this short snippet. But good to see they are cautiously moving forward. But what’s up with Lindsay?

Hahaha. Johnathan had defended her on a case of hers. Unbeknownst to the family. We guess it may have not gone too well or she didn’t want the family to know about it.
